Due to the leak of information about the mineral deal, Zelensky ordered officials to take a polygraph test

According to the Financial Times, Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the SBU to investigate the leak of the US proposal for a minerals deal.

As part of the investigations, ministry employees are undergoing polygraph tests, reports the Telegraph.

The sources said that lie detector tests were conducted among employees of several ministries, but declined to provide further details or specify how many people were questioned.

According to the Financial Times, the Ukrainian president’s office declined to comment. The Security Service said in a statement that it is working within the law to protect Ukraine’s security, and keeps some details of its activities secret.

Polygraph tests are controversial and the scientific validity of their use is questioned, but Ukrainian law enforcement agencies often use them for criminal investigations, and to screen foreigners who want to join the military.

The investigation began after opposition MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak revealed details of the draft agreement on March 26, citing a copy allegedly in his hands.

The next day, the Financial Times also published the contents of the document, which it obtained separately.

Commenting on the leak on March 28, Zelensky said in an interview with the Financial Times: “I am interested in knowing who this information is being forwarded to.”

Ukraine has received a new version of the minerals agreement from the United States.

Kiev insists on changes to the draft minerals agreement with the United States. Ukraine was concerned about US control over investments and the demand to repay aid.

On April 4, Volodymyr Zelensky said that lawyers will present the main points of Ukraine’s draft minerals agreement with the United States next week.

After that, the technical team will be ready for a working trip to the United States.
